Starting in 1975 with just one vessel in Alaskan waters, Holland America Line has steadily increased its presence to 159 sailings on 8 five-star ships including two Vista-class vessels - ms Westerdam and ms Zuiderdam. The line's Signature of Excellence has been expanded to include upgrading five ships at a cost of $40 million per ship, to be completed by 2010. The enhancements are designed to provide guests with the most distinctive ships at sea and the most spacious accommodations in the premium cruise category.
After 61 years of operations serving visitors in Alaska, Holland America Line now owns the best infrastructure of hotels, buses, rail cars, special attractions (Gold Dredge #8, Yukon Queen, mv Ptarmigan, etc.) than anyone else in Alaska.
